THE Board is a skills-based, volunteer board charged with fulfilling the obligation of securing the complementary funding to maintain and equip the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service as a world-class service for Tasmanians and visitors to the State.

The Board undertook a strategic renewal in 2019 to ensure that it had the skills, resources and energy necessary to meet its responsibilities.

The Board meets monthly, with a majority of time dedicated to assessing funding priorities for the service. Equal attention is paid to the allocation of funds, and to driving the organisation's fundraising strategy to ensure funding sustainability.

The board is currently undertaking an extensive review of its governance structure and fundraising strategy. The aim is to ensure the organisation can sustain donor and sponsor revenue in a rapidly changing environment, to maintain its operations, secure first-class rescue and medical equipment and train personnel.

Tony Harrison OAM

Tony is Chairman of the strategic communications and information technology business Bright Company Pty Ltd and a Director of the property management company Hudson Fysh Pty Ltd.

Linda Fletcher

Deputy Chair, Governance Committee Chair

Linda is an experienced director and legal advisor, with deep expertise in the technology and medical industries.

Richard Easther

Treasurer, Finance and Risk Committee Chair

Richard has over 20 years’ experience in a number of senior and executive management roles in finance, administration and corporate governance at the University of Tasmania and immediately prior to his retirement from full-time professional life was head of Corporate Support at the Department of Treasury and Finance.

Oliver Cousland

Company Secretary

Oliver is an experienced General Counsel and Company Secretary with over 17 years' experience in private legal practice and an in-house legal adviser.

Richard Batt

Fundraising & Marketing Committee Chair

Richard is a Private Client Adviser with over 20 years’ experience in the financial services industry

Steve Bonde

Steve brings to the board a wealth of experience as a senior police officer, having served over ten of his thirty-eight years with Tasmania Police at the rank of Commander.

Emsada Babic

Emsada is the Tasmanian Manager for Sensys Gatso Australia (SGA), a global provider of traffic safety systems.

Jonathan Higgins

Jonathan is the Deputy Commissioner of Tasmania Police.

Paul Steane

Paul was a Police officer with Tasmania Police for almost 40 years. Most of that time (1985 to 2016) was spent with helicopter Search and Rescue.
