Carolyn is an experienced non-executive director and Board Committee chair. With over 13 years in senior executive positions, particularly in utilities, Carolyn has a strong background in governance, risk, strategy, compliance, shareholder engagement, commercial decision-making and the full range of issues that arise in growing entities.
Carolyn is a chartered company secretary. She has a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Corporate Governance), a Graduate Diploma in Applied Corporate Governance and successfully completed the Company Directors Course in 2007.
She is a graduate member of Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Fellow of both the Governance Institute of Australian and the (international) Institute of Company Secretaries and Administrators.
Carolyn is Principal Consultant in a boutique governance and management consulting business. Clients include government business enterprises, private and public companies and not-for-profit entities throughout Australia.
Carolyn works with Boards and executive teams to develop and review governance frameworks and processes so they are pragmatic, meaningful and contribute value to the organisation.
Carolyn is presently a director of Lifeline Tasmania Inc as well as its treasurer and member of its audit and risk committee and governance committee. She recently retired as a director of ESSA Ltd where she chaired its audit, finance and risk committee.
Carolyn is also an independent member of audit panels for two local councils.
Carolyn has a general love of aviation and a private pilots licence, although she admits it’s hard to keep this current. She spends a great deal of her weekends touring on her jet ski and volunteering with the statewide club, which involves rides of 100-200kms around Tasmania’s spectacular coastlines and large inland lakes and rivers.
