Do you know how the Tasmanian service is funded?

Funding for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter is provided by the State government through the recurrent budget of the Department Police and Emergency Management (DPEM). This is provided on the basis that funding for specialist equipment and advanced training is sought through sponsorship and the Tasmanian community.

The Tasmanian Air Rescue Trust t/a Westpac Rescue Helicopter Tasmania is a Not for Profit whose objectives are to source extra funding  for the vital equipment and training for our crew and the service.

Other objectives are:

  • Raising and Fostering community awareness of how the rescue helicopter operates;
  • Education and awareness of air, land and water safety to the general public and
  • Foster community involvement and support for the rescue helicopter service.

If you would like to ensure our Tasmanian crew and service have the best equipment and training available to them please see how you can help.
