Area of Operation

Around 160 missions of varying kinds are flown each year, including maritime search and rescue, missing bushwalker rescue, and attending motor vehicle accidents.

The area covered by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service Tasmania is vast, extending from 39°12"S (approximately 00°11" south of Wilsons Promontory, Victoria) and includes all 52 islands of the Furneaux Group off the northeastern tip of Tasmania.

Around 160 missions of varying kinds are flown each year, including maritime search and rescue, missing bushwalker rescue, and attending motor vehicle accidents.

Some of these missions involve airlifting injured patients and caring for them using our state-of-the-art onboard medical equipment.
